When a team asks for an AI strategy, the most useful first conversation is often about the work itself. Where does information get re-entered? Which decisions wait for a report? What consumes time without improving the result?
Define what should change
Describe the task, the people involved and the constraints. Establish a baseline: time spent, delays, rework or the quality of a decision. A clear problem makes it possible to judge whether a proposed solution is worth pursuing.
Keep more than one option on the table
Compare AI with simpler alternatives. Existing software may already solve the problem. A process change may remove the task entirely. Use the smallest practical intervention that achieves the intended outcome, with appropriate oversight and a way to evaluate it.
Test, learn and decide
Trial a bounded workflow before expanding. Measure it against the baseline, involve the people who do the work and make a deliberate decision to continue, adjust or stop. A useful experiment improves the next decision even when the answer is not to scale.
